Caring for the Dying at Home
The options at end of life. In the hospital or at home. The last few breaths of life are so precious and need to be shared.

As humans we do mark the End
As humans we do mark the end of life, although this may be uncomfortable. It is essential to our nature. I wonder why that is?

Our Carbon Footprint when we Die
Can environmental impacts and our carbon footprint be considered at the end? Absolutely!

Should we say more when people are alive?
One of the ‘staples’ at funerals is the eulogy. It is here that glowing reflections are made about the deceased. I wonder whether some of these things need to be said while they are still alive.

Death – do we need to call it for what it is?
Maybe sometimes we need to hear more than ‘passed away.’ Sometimes we need to hear ‘died.’ We just do!

Grief – a part of our shared humanity
Humans have a 100% mortality rate. Grief is something that we all experience.

Grief may become a source of Growth
Does emotional growth come through the good or the bad times? It could be that the bad times bring out resilience and courage we did not know we had.

Grief – the missing piece
When there is loss, part of our life goes missing. Maybe like an incomplete jigsaw puzzle.

Grief – I don’t know how to feel
Grief – something like fear, but not being afraid; fluttering in the stomach, restlessness, yawning, mildly concussed or drunk. I don’t know how to be!

Grief – Is it a Process?
Process and stages are such tidy words while grief is anything but tidy and orderly; it is a mess, much more like a storm raging outside.
