“The goal of all life is death” – No Sigmund, Just No!

Legacy #11

Just no Sigmund Freud!

So what if you were a prominent neurologist, consider the founder of psychoanalysis, a clinical method for evaluating and treating patients through dialogue between a patient and a psychoanalyst.

Picture, ‘would you lie on the couch and tell me about it,’ and you will get the picture

World changing!

And Trevor, the hourglass, clock is ticking type picture, is not helping either!

Do you actually agree with such an outlandish statement, Trevor??

Okay, okay, dear reader, I get it.

Death is just so far off in the future, why even bother with it.

After all, goals might be establishing a career, securing your independence, going on that holiday, getting married, finding a relationship, family, that sort of thing.

There are just so much more palatable goals to follow after right now.

And so we can be excused for dismissing such a statement as so far into the left field there is no point venturing there.

But …

Would you like to keep reading?

Ask someone of the older, or more experienced generation, who are on the other side of the achieving goals stuff.

They go from achieving to starting to consider their legacy.

You know the thing, the essence of who we are, that will carry on after we leave this place and journey into the next, in the hearts and minds of our loved ones?

Maybe Freud was in a similar frame of mind when uttering those words. Had his life been worth it; had he made a difference, and how would he be remembered?

After all, in the case of Sigmund Freud, there definitely is a legacy.

But what forces us to consider such things? After all there are few absolutes in life, and we may carry on regardless, not needing to contemplate such concepts.

Well, the next journey is waiting for each one us.

This is an absolute we will not be able to escape from.

So yes take life for all it is worth, after all we only get one shot at it.

And may the next journey be an additional inspiration for us to do just that.

To leave the best legacy we can, as it starts now!
